European FP7 Project: RONDOL part of TRAYSRENEW biopolymer project
In January 2011 Rondol Technology joined a consortium of European industrial and academic partners to undertake a two years Framework 7 project named TRAYSRENEW. Rondol will contribute to the development of new bio-packaging materials based initially on 15% organic nano fibres and 85% biopolymer. The project is, in the first instance, for the process of manufacturing poultry trays and will require the design and building of specialist equipment.
Rondols expertise in key areas of the project can be defined as :
- Screws Design and Extrusion Compounding experience.
- Feeding and Incorporation of Nano Materials
- Chaotic Mixing of Biopolymer mixes
- Machine Design
This reflects a significant input to the project.
Equipment at the new Rondol facility in Stoke on Trent will be used to produce samples during the project.
The project was initiated by Brian Murray, Non Executive Director of Rondol who has contributed his invaluable experience in the field of hot melt extrusion as well as his thorough knowledge of the Spanish academic network.
Guillaume Beaurin, Sales and Marketing Manager for Rondol states : « This project is a very good opportunity for Rondol Technology to demonstrate our extrusion expertise while working in a very promising field ».
